This piece of stamped metal with a large spring wrapped
around its perimeter is used to separate the cocktail from the ice in a mixing glass. They come in different sizes and metals. Make sure you are not wrestling to get yours in and out of the glass. It should easily slip in the glass and not move around while you are straining.
